VIDEO: Chief Scientist Larry Carin on Convolutional Neural Networks

Infinia ML Chief Scientist Larry Carin is the co-author of a new paper in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), one the premier medical journals. The paper, On Deep Learning for Medical Image Analysis, is paired with a video explaining how convolutional neural networks (CNNs) work.

You’ll see Dr. Carin featured with other experts in the video, which is framed by the task of “automatically grading retinal images for diabetic retinopathy.” In case you’re not familiar, Mayo Clinic explains that it’s “a diabetes complication that affects eyes. It’s caused by damage to the blood vessels of the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye (retina).”
